For more decades than most of us have been alive Sperry Rail Service has diligently been working towards making railroads safer. While many of the cars started life as motor cars few of the original parts survive, (it is interesting to see how the look of these cars evolved with time, where comparisons can be made because of multiple links, but it is worth noting that cars 140 and 143 - 149 were built new). The heritage listed here is for reference purposes only but it yet is important to consider their origins.
If you would like to learn more about these cars, as well as see more photos, visit the un-official Sperry Rail Service website at Trainweb.org. Not only can you learn more about how these cars operate and what they do, you can also find a complete roster of all test vehicles as well as other pertinent information. I cannot promise you that all links will remain working since I have no control over this. To contact me my email address is jmlaboda[at]passcarphotos.info.
